Patrick Byrne (Overstock) - 500 years of liberalism: From the Netherlands to crypto-currency

American entrepreneur Patrick Byrne is CEO of Overstock.com and advocate for crypto-currencies. He’s leading in trying to expose corruption in Wallstreet. Overstock.com was the first major online retailer to accept Bitcoin as a formal payment. Here he speaks at Bitcoin 2014 in Amsterdam.

Patrick Byrne’s talk isn’t per se about his vision for the future of Bitcoin, but rather includes some of his favorite authors, philosophers and a lesson in (political) history to provide a clear insight as to why Blockchain’s uncorrupted source code is good for global financial inclusion. To him Bitcoin is an answer to a long history of distrust towards centralized institutions.
